"Rocking" for Gold. If a likely 'prospect' is discovered, a primitive 'Rocker' is set up which enables the worker to work more pay dirt than would be possible by panning alone. The dirt and gravel is shoveled into the rocker, then shaken through a screen, and then washed down a riffle board where the heavier gold sifts to the bottom, and the lighter residue washed on down. Water is dipped from the stream to pour in box.
