Bunker Hill Monument, approached from the South. Apparently when Monument Avenue was quite new, and only wooden houses stood at intervals along it. The avenue was not completed until 1871, according to Hunnewell. Page 80, but he describes some houses on it at earlier dates, pages 134, 135.
