Letter from Samuel May, Boston, to John Bishop Estlin, May 29, 1847
Description:
May tells Estlin that the Unitarian meetings he has been attending "have been very tame and spiritless." He proposed anti-slavery resolutions to put the American Unitarian Association on record as declaring slaveholding opposed to the law and will of God and prohibiting slaveholders from holding office in the Association, but only the former resolution was passed. He also informs Estlin of his appointment as General Agent of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society.
