[Additional information from item] French Navy Bathyscafe Dives 13,288 Feet in Atlantic- FNRS3, leaving Dakar on the west coast of Africa to make a test dive, plunged 13,288 feet below the surface of the Atlantic at that port. Two French Naval officers rode the diving bell down, descending farther than man has gone before. The dive passed the depth record set by Prof. Auguste Piccard and his son, Jacques, at 10,339 feet. Aboard the craft is an engineer.
