Russia Builds Up Gold Reserve In U.S. The molten stream in upper photo is gold flowing from a furnace in Tacoma, Wash., Smelter, refined from gold ore shipped from Odessa, Russia. In lower photo are gold bars which are being stored by the Soviet Government in the U.S. as a special reserve. The bars, containing a silver mixture, weigh, from 85 to 95 pounds each.
