Title (alt.):
By Wilmot Hercher. Washington. Feb. 4 (AP) John G. Adams, who was in the thick of the furious fight between Sen. McCarthy and civilian chiefs of the Army last year, is quitting as Army counselor. Secretary of the Army Stevens announced late today that Adams has submitted a letter of resignation effective March 31. Without mentioning his part in the long battle with the Wisconsin senator, Adams said in his letter: “Projects which have occupied my attention are now well advanced and I therefore would like to leave my post.” He also reminded Stevens that when he was appointed counselor in October 1953, he said he hoped to stay on the job about one year.
