Robert Morss Lovett Letters
Ann Craton Letters
Description:
Ann Washington Craton (Ann Blankenhorn) worked as an organizer for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers union and often collaborated with the U.S. Department of Labor. During the trial of Sacco and Vanzetti, she actively supported the National Sacco-Vanzetti League. After their deaths, Craton participated in the nation-wide memorial service and conference. In this letter from Robert Morss Lovett, he provides a draft letter to Craton that he plans on sending to the Department of Justice. Lovett's letter addresses the issue around the Department of Justice files and getting access to them. In the second paragraph of the letter, Lovett makes a comment that to get the best placement in the New York Times it will cost $2800. He also alludes to the working relationship between the National Citizens Committee and the Defense Committee. On the third page of the letter, we see Ann Washington Craton's address typed in the upper left hand corner.
